Music and Imagery
Music-making is often compared to storytelling, which combines text or spoken words with imagery to create an emotional impact on the listener. "Music and Imagery" is an interdisciplinary lecture by Teddie which demonstrates how the principles of fine art photography give insight into music and its interpretation. Using her own works ranging from portraiture to landscape astrophotography, she explains the most essential concepts in music through these visual mediums to promote and inspire musicians to be compelling storytellers. When these concepts are internalized, music-making then becomes an enriching and fulfilling experience, both for the performer as well as for the listener.
Some central points in the lecture include:

The lecture content is always adapted to the target audience, special requests regarding repertoire or musical focus can be discussed upon request. The lecture can take place in a variety of formats, including in combination with a workshop, in-person or online. What People Say:
"Thank you so much for your fascinating and thought-provoking talk." - Colin St Martin, flutist & adjunct lecturer, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music
"After many years of music making, Teddie’s lectures have inspired me to play more thoughtfully and intentionally, as well as given me the courage to try new ways of interpreting old repertoire. For this reason alone, I highly recommend that every musician (novice or professional) attend at least one of her talks. Doing so will change the way you approach making music by giving you a fresh and exciting perspective." - Merrie Arnold-Schultz, violinist, Germany
"...excellent lecture...enlightening in showing how [understanding the art of photography and understanding the art of music] is exactly the same thing!"
